4.7″ Samsung Galaxy Alpha Smartphone Coming Next Month

It’s getting hard to keep up with Samsung’s smartphone releases this year (so far we’ve seen the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy S5 Sport, Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Galaxy S5 mini, and Galaxy W — and we still are expecting to see the Galaxy Note 4 in September). Now we’re getting a closer look at another new offering, the Galaxy Alpha, via pictures obtained by SamMobile.

The Galaxy Alpha will reportedly fit in between the 5.1” Galaxy S5 and the 4.5” Galaxy S5 mini. The Galaxy Alpha will sport a 4.7” 720p display, and will have a strip of aluminum that wraps around the sides of the device. Details on the processor powering the smartphone are a bit murky at this point, but the Galaxy Alpha will come with a fingerprint scanner and 32GB of storage. Unfortunately, a microSD slot won’t be included for those that need more storage for apps, media, etc.

SamMobile states that there will also be an LTE-A variant of the smartphone made available that could possibly use the new Exynos ModAP processor.

The Galaxy Alpha will reportedly launch next month, although the smartphone likely won’t see a global release due to production constraints.

Samsung is releasing its latest smartphone amidst a period where the company is facing reduced smartphones sales and lower profits. It was reported earlier this week that some Samsung managers have even gone so far as to return a portion of their bonuses (totaling about $2.3M) to take responsibility for the shortfalls.
