By Otto Mergen

As a new school year begins, parents and students are looking for budget laptops and tablets. In this article, we would like to compare two Windows 2-in-1 budget tablets for you: Acer Switch 3 and Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 320. Both laptops have all modern conveniences but are built for budget users.

Although, Acer has several 2-in-1 laptops in its portfolio, Switch 3 is the least expensive one. Its dimensions, 0.39 x 11.6 x 7.9 inches, are almost identical to Surface Pro and larger than Lenovo IpadMiix 320. However, its weight is considerably heavier as well (2.76 lbs vs 1.98 lbs with keyboards). For both laptops attaching/detaching keyboards are very easy. Switch 3 has better screen resolution and graphics than Miix 320 and its viewing angle is more adjustable as well (165 vs 125 degrees).

In terms of performance, one should not expect too much from these budget laptops, but they both get job done. Their storage and RAM are comparable, but Miix 320 has a faster processor. Miix 320 has longer battery life lasting up to 10 hours comparing to Switch’s 8 hours. Both laptops feature descent speakers and a plenty of outlets for connectivity.

Overall, in terms of hardware and performance Switch 3 and Miix 310 are in the same league, though Switch is a slightly larger and a little bit pricier. If you are not looking for expensive 2-in-1 laptops, then both laptops could serve your casual daily activities like browsing, text editing and music equally well.
