Android 5.0 Lollipop Coming to NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet Later this Month

It was announced this week that NVIDIA will be delivering the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for its SHIELD Tablet later this month. The company announced the news in an official YouTube video, and provides a quick overview of some of the new features in Lollipop along with Material Design changes to core NVIDIA apps (including Dabbler and the SHIELD Hub) included on the SHIELD Tablet.

Not much else can be gleaned from the video, which is just over a minute long, but feel free to take a look at it below:

While NVIDIA appears to be well on its way to releasing Lollipop for the SHIELD Tablet, the company made no mention of whether the SHIELD Portable will receive the same treatment.

Lollipop was officially revealed to the public on October 15, and was officially released just two days ago. However, device OEMs are already rushing to get the Lollipop to customers with current generation hardware. Samsung is currently well under way with development of Lollipop for both its Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 smartphones and Sony has committed to upgrading its entire lineup of Xperia Z smartphones and tablets and smartphones to Lollipop (following more than a few missteps with its previous Android OS upgrade efforts).
