Yesterday, we reported on Apple’s decision to remove “adult” apps from the App Store due to complaints from women and parents. The removal of the apps came despite the fact that the iPod touch and iPhone have parental controls already in place to block the installation of such content for minors.
However, according to Mac Rumors , Apple may be having a change of heart. The site reports that developers now have a new “Explicit” category to choose from when submitting apps to Apple. It could also mean that the banned apps may find their way back to the App Store.
The move is expected to squash the backlash that Apple received when a reported 5,000 adult apps were removed. The negativity surrounding the move grew even more when it was noted that Victoria’s Secret, Playboy, and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2010 apps were left unharmed by Apple’s wrath.
